Recommended Clearance Between Bumper and 5th Wheel Trailer

Question:
I have a 2018 chevy long bed. With standard gooseneck. I installed the goosebox on my 2017 reflection by grand design and the clearance between the rear of the truck and front of 5th wheel seem pretty tight. Approximately 20 inches. What should I have?

Expert Reply:
The recommended clearance between the rear bumper on your 2018 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 and the body on your 2017 Grand Design Reflection is about 16" - 24" so it sound like you are good. There are also a few other clearance measurements you need to consider which I have attached a photo of for you.
If you need more vertical clearance then you may want to consider using the B&W Ball and Safety Chain Kit part # BWGNXA2061 as it has a high rise gooseneck hitch ball but they don't make anything to extend the bumper clearance measurement assuming you have the factory prep package.
