Question:
Dump trailer brakes not working. Just put all new brake assembly on my Titan dump trailer. Now i have no brakes. Does it matter how you connect the 2 wires to each assembly. Can you cross those wires or not?

Helpful Expert Reply:
If you just put new brake assemblies on your dump trailer, the brake magnets have two wires and it doesn't matter which one gets the brake controller output voltage and which one is grounded to your trailer. You do want to make sure the one grounded to your trailer has a bare metal to metal connection free of rust, corrosion, or debris.
If you have also added a breakaway system like the Replacement Tekonsha Trailer Breakaway Switch # 420000 you asked from, then you will want to install one wire of that inline with that brake controller output wire and the other connected to the breakaway battery power. It does not matter which wire gets connected to each. I've attached a videos as well as some articles to help further.
