Question:

Hi, I have a travel trailer with the easy lube system, my dealer said to inspect the bearings every 3000 miles but the Dexter cie said once a year or every 12000 miles!!!! When should I lube the bearings manualy with the zirt? how often? with the red synthetic grease? thanks

It may not be a bad idea just to do a quick visual inspection of your hubs every 3,000 miles (or after a long road trip) but you really don't need to add grease to the bearings until you either reach 12,000 miles or 12 months (granted they are in good working order).

When you do add grease at the 12,000 mile or 12 month mark you will want to use the exact same grease that is already being used for your bearings. Some greases are not compatible with each other and will actually cause all of the grease to become more solid or more liquid which will cause damage to your bearings.

If you aren't sure what grease was used then I would remove your hubs and clean out all of the grease on your bearings and your spindle. When this is done you can use red grease like part # L11390.
