Question:
I recently ordered a Pollak 11896 7-pin to 12 VDC out connector. I was planning on connecting a Viar portable air compressor thru the connector to the 7-pin outlet. The max current rating of the compressor is 30 A. Will this connector be adequate for this purpose? Didnt realize this connector was for a 12-VDC cigarette lighter style connector and was looking for a connector I could hard wire to the compressor power leads, Thanks,

If you already have the Pollak 7-Way to 12 Volt Power Outlet Adapter part # PK11896 then all you need to use this with a 110 volt AC air compressor is the Scosche InVert Portable Power Inverter - AC Outlet and USB Port # 332-PI130. The power inverter has a 130 watt rating but the 12 volt pin on the vehicle will be your limiting factor. The 12 volt pin on most 7-way trailer connectors is around 30-40 amps. You can verify this in your owner's manual or you can run a new hot lead straight to the battery with part # 10-1-1 (per foot) and part # PK54540 as this would give you a 40 amp circuit if the vehicle is not at least 30 amps.
