Is There An Adapter To Turn My 7 Way Into Easy Access To 12 Volts?
Updated 10/30/2025 | Published 10/05/2025 >
Question:
I just finished hooking up a 7 way connector for a car carrier trailer. Connector works perfectly. Is there any convenient way to access the 12 V from the connector to operate an electric wench located on the trailer?

Hey Laurence,
The only adapter I see out there that gives easy access to 12V is the Pollak 7-way to 12v outlet adapter # PK11896. This essentially converts your 7 way into a 12v outlet at the rear of the vehicle. One thing you want to make sure of is how much power your winch draws. This adapter is only rated to handle 20-30 amps of power draw. I know some winches that use more than that so I would double check that first.
Do you know what model winch/trailer you have?

Hey Laurence, did you get a chance to try the Pollak 7-way to 12V adapter with your trailer winch? It’d be great to hear if the power output was enough for your setup. Your update could make it easier for others running similar winches.
