Is 6-1/2' Bed Considered Long Bed or Short Bed on 2016 Ram 1500

Question:
I purchased a rp 30035-386 rail kit. I have a Dodge ram 1500 with a 6- 1/2 foot bed. My installation instructions fine measurements for a long bed and short bed. I notice there are 5-1/2, 6-1/2, and 8 foot beds, so which measurement do I use?

Expert Reply:
For a truck anything under an 8' bed is considered a short bed.
So when installing the Reese Semi-Custom Base Rail and Installation Kit for 5th Wheel Trailer Hitches # RP30035-386 in your 2016 Ram 1500 with a 6-1/2' bed you should follow the measurements outlined for the short bed.
