Question:
Hello, i recently purchased a 2006 Dodge Ram 3500 with the 5.9 Cummins. I went to pull my RV and had no brake lights... i know about he TIPM issues on these, and started to trace wires from the rear to the front. In doing so i saw that someone spliced the 7 way plug i to the trucks light wiring harness. I also saw another bunch of wires that were cut off which leads me to believe were the trailer harness for the 7 way. My question is, canni use a modulite to splice i to the trucks wiring harness or would i have to fix the TIPM and splice it into the trailer wiring harness? Thank you

The TIPM of your 2006 Dodge Ram can be frustrating to deal with in terms of trailer wiring. When you short out the TIPM you have to take it to a dealer so that they can reset it, and they will only do this so many times before you have to spend a ton of money to replace it.
The best way around the TIPM is to bypass it all together with the trailer wiring. For that you can use the wiring harness part # 119178KIT for a 4-way, and then for converting the 4-way to a 7-way you would want to use part # 37185 for if you don't have a brake controller and part # ETBC7 for if you do.
I attached installation instructions and videos for you to check out as well.
