Your 2006 Dodge Ram 2500 is a generation of Dodge truck that uses a very bizzare trailer wiring setup. It has a TIPM which manages the trailer wiring. If it shorts out you can only reset it so many times (at a crazy price) until you have to just buy a new one. It's a God-awful setup if you ask me, but we do have a solution that allows you to bypass that if you are okay with a little bit of wiring.

The best way around the TIPM is to bypass it all together with the trailer wiring. For that you can use the wiring harness part # 119178KIT for a 4-way, and then for converting the 4-way to a 7-way you would want to use part # 37185 for if you don't have a brake controller and part # ETBC7 for if you do.

I attached installation instructions and videos for you to check out as well.

I have same problem, no power from TIPM to controller. I have a new controller and 4 + 7w plugs. what wiring do I need. Can the input to TIPM be cut and run to the battery, So I can save some wiring?

@JW The TIPM can definitely be bypassed but bypassing the power cable for it isn't something we can help with or know how to do. You'd be best off in my opinion running the power wire of the brake controller directly to the battery. Otherwise a Ram dealer can have the TIPM reset.
