Mounting of Stromberg Carlson RV Shower Curtain

Question:

Is it recommended to caulk behind the mounting brackets or is that necessary? Also I guess I can assume if the factory shower rod is mounted now then this should just be a screw-in in the same location and be solidly mounted.

You are correct that the Stromberg Carlson Extend-A-Shower Shower Curtain Rod # EXT-3542 does install with the use of the four included stainless steel screws. As for caulking behind the mounting brackets that is not necessary with this product, no.
