Hidden Hitch Recommendation for a 2002 Toyota Tacoma
Updated 09/29/2011 | Published 09/27/2011 >
Question:
The step bumper on our 2002 Toyota Tacoma measures a width of 3 5/8 in. My question is will the Curt E3-S bumper hitch work as I would have to re-drill the rear 2 holes maybe 1 in. inwards. The E-3S is 4inch front to back. The bumper is 3 1/2 If not re-drilled the holes would be too close to the edge, so I would have to compensate for the 1/2inch difference. I could stagger the new holes as not to be too close to the existing holes. What do you think? Thanks,

I think that your best bet would be to install a hitch that installs onto the frame of your 2002 Toyota Tacoma, like a Draw-tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 75078. Not only will you have a much higher towing capacity, you will not have to make any permanent modifications to your vehicle bumper that might void the warranty of the vehicle.
I attached installation instructions and a review video for this product for you to check out also.
