When you see "with trailer tow package" in the owner's manual for the 2015 Jeep Cherokee it is referring to the factory tow package for that vehicle. Factory tow packages vary from manufacturer to manufacturer but it does mean more than just have a hitch and wiring installed.
If your Cherokee did not come with the factory trailer tow package then it has a capacity of 2,000 pounds gross trailer weight. If it does have the factory tow package then it is rated for 4,500 pounds gross trailer weight with the 3.2 liter motor.
A Jeep dealer may be able to run the VIN and tell you if your model came with the trailer tow package.
