How to Connect Brake Controller to Cold Side of Brake Light Signal Aside from the Stop Light Switch

Question:
My cold wire on my trucks brake switch goes to ground when my brake pedal is up. The instructions say that this will damage the brake controler when the manual controle switch is pressed. Do I need to install a diode to prevent damaging my controller?

To accommodate your situation you would either need a stop light switch kit, like part # RM-751449, or simply connect the that specific wire from your brake controller to a 3rd brake light or any circuit that only gets hot when your brake pedal is pressed. A diode should not be used in this situation.
The stop light switch kits are vehicle specific so it you could let me know what the year/make/model of your vehicle is I can see if we have one confirmed as a fit for your application.

I have a 2019 Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. I want to install the additional brake light indicator RM-751449. And run the indicator line up thru the blue brake wire in the 7 pole plug to the dash of the ford e450 motorhome. Looking at the directions, the brake peddle assembly looks different than the one on my vehicle. I could send a picture of it!!. In the instruction it looks like the firewall plate of the brake peddle assembly is shiny metal. Mine looks black plastic, and the mounting nuts are down in a cylindrical hole. making adding the plate to the nut once remove, impossible. Do you have another type of bracket system. I am in Canada, maybe the canadian model are different!! Thanks David
