Video Transcript for Reese Accessories and Parts RP58305 Review

Speaker 1: Today we're taking a look at the chain hangers for Reese weight distribution systems. Now chain hangers provider the attachment points for weight distribution spring bars via a chain specially designed to eliminate clearance problems. So if you have clearance problems, these would be a great product to consider to gain more clearance and to not have any clearance issues when your weight distribution system is in use and hooked up properly. It's a quick bolt-on installation. Drilling is required. Drilling into the trailer frame. These hangers are made from a durable steel construction, and they feature a nice black, powder-coated finish, which is designed to resist rust and corrosion.

Two hangers are included as well as all the necessary installation hardware. With this system it has a tongue weight capacity of 1,400 pounds, a gross towing-weight rating of 14,000 pounds. It is designed for trailer frames no wider than two and one quarter inches, and when it comes to the actual hanger dimensions, we can take some measurements for you real quick. The overall width measurement on these measures five inches. Overall height measurement is about three and a quarter to three and 5/16ths of an inch.

Right in that area. Then the mount holes, these elongated holes are separated on center by three inches. Now you'll notice that it comes with a couple different sets of hardware. The longer bolts, these measure about three and a half inches long. These are for use on trailers with tube-style frames. Then you also have the shorter bolts, these are one and three quarter inches long, and they're for use on trailers with C-channel frames.Basically your hardware;s included, and when the chains are connected, and your weight distribution system is hooked up properly, to secure the chain in place here on the actual hanger, it comes with these clips, which will go through and secure and engage and hold everything in place.

The product's also covered with a limited lifetime warranty. That's going to do it for today's look at the chain hangers for Reese weight distribution systems.

These were a great solution to my issue. My trailers's propane tank, battery box, and winch prevented me from using the mounts that came with my weight distribution hitch. Installation was straightforward and only took about a half an hour. These chain hangers are easy to use too! Very happy eTrailer customer (again!). 82123

These chain hangers are still working out great! No issues at all. I would definitely buy them again.

This hook operates as expected. No issues installing if what you're installing it to is appropriate. Comes with long and short screws, so it works on hollow beams and C channel frame members at the front of your trailer. Can't comment on the durability of the finish, as I keep installing these on rental campers and never see them again! Well, we all know Reese and the hitch industry overall has significant corrosion issues they just seem to ignore over the decades - their process isn't up to par in my book. That said, the finish seems thick enough and the steel is so thick that rust in this case will be only an optical issue. I like the fact that they are delivered with nylock nuts. I spray the drilled holes (both sides) with aerosol grease before a bolt everything up, to prevent rust on the frame once THAT finish is broken open. Then I hit the fasteners too, to prevent rust. I'm a repeat purchaser, and from experience believe strongly in weight distribution hitches even on small travel trailers, it's just SO much more stable. 277408

I couldn't fit my Weight Distribution Hitch on the used trailer I recently purchased because of the nice tool box that was mounted on the V Tongue of the Trailer. With the tool box I couldn't pull over the chain attach brackets. Called E-Trailer and Kathy recommended the Chain Hangers PN: RP58305. They were an easy install and were exactly what I needed. The Service and shipping from E-Trailer was Excellent. 58330

The product was well priced and delivery was very fast (3 days) I was unable to find any other product anywhere that would work for my setup. Every trailer store I contacted had no idea where to direct me as they knew of no product on the market that would work. I have a V-Cross 32FKDS. Because of the V nose I am unable to use the traditional load level system. the V extends all the way to the trailer jack. I bought the trailer new and had it delivered to a seasonal lot in 2010 where it has remained. We are looking at moving to a different campground and delivery was $250-$350. For the price this seemed well worth a try. I am hoping once this product is installed it will keep the trailer and my 3/4 ton level for towing. 219298

This product worked great for me. I had mounted a small generator on the front not making the regular flip chain connectors work. The best way to use this product is with a electric tongue jack. Connect the hitch raise the back of the truck to connect the chains then lower to put the tension on the bars. Easy as pie just make sure if you are buying a jack to get a higher rated one. Highly recommended 399082

They mount easily and work as intended. With a V-nose trailer there is no way I would have been able to use the WD hitch without bolt on chain hangers. These enabled me to hang the chains further behind the V-nose on the frame. I just wish these had been included in a WD hitch package intended specifically for trailers without sufficient free space over the frame. 24589

This is the only choice for a V-nose trailer. I must say more importantly than the product because it is Reese so it is good but etrailer is a great and easy place to do business with and I am in a crunch and need to get this on the road they get your product to you super fast. Excellent Service Thank you etrailer! 12096

These are a must for V nose trailers if your using a weight distribution hitch. Over the tongue saddle types won't fit because of the nose section over hang. Kit comes with everything for mounting and easy to follow instructions. 7315

  • Weight Distribution / Sway Control System That Will Fit A V-Nose Trailer
  • Yes, the Strait-Line Weight Distribution Hitch System can be adapted to a V-Nose style trailer. You would need to use an alternate mounting system for the chain hanger brackets. The Bolt on Chain Hanger Kit, item # RP58305, will bolt onto the side of trailer frame. Once installed the chains are attached by raising the trailer tongue and rear of vehicle with the trailer jack. Tubular frames cannot be wider than 2-1/4 inches with this hanger kit, so you will need to be sure and measure before...

  • Choosing Weight Distribution System for 10,000 lb Capacity Deck Over Trailer Towed By Ford F150
  • The first step in choosing the correct weight distribution (W/D) system is to determine the actual as-towed tongue weight of your trailer. Anything stowed in the bed of the truck behind the rear axle should be included as tongue weight. For best performance, the tongue weight of the trailer should fall as close as possible to the middle of the effective range of the system you choose. The Pro Series Weight Distribution System you mention is designed to operate most effectively with tongue...

  • Carrying 2 Batteries and 2 Propane Tanks on a Trailer Tongue
  • Propane tanks can't be store inside of an enclosed container like a toolbox. If they build enough pressure it has to vent out to open air. That is why the plastic propane tank covers you see on trailers are open at the bottom. I recommend a traditional dual tank cover, # CAM40523, for the propane tanks so you are nice and safe there. The batteries can go into a box. I recommend box # TLA7708R which is designed for batteries. It is 26-3/4 inches long, 8-3/16 inches wide, and 13 inches...

  • Is Weight Distribution Needed to Tow 16-Foot Homesteader V-Nose Trailer with 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 4X4

If your trailer weight (GTW) is more than 50 percent of the tow vehicle weight (GVWR) then often a weight distribution/sway control system will improve handling. Other symptoms of the need for such a system are if the rear of the tow vehicle sags when hitched to the trailer, if the tow vehicle headlights point upward, if steering and stopping are impaired, or if you just want to get the maximum towing capacity from...

But first, when determining tongue weight, also factor in the weight of anything loaded in the towing vehicle behind the rear axle. • Can Weight Distribution Systems be Used with a V-Nose Trailer
  • In a sense, both sides of the fence were right. You cannot use the standard weight distribution systems, but a simple bracket switch, and you can use a weight distribution system. Traditional brackets go over the top of the frame, but V-Nose trailer cabin sits on the top of the frame where the brackets need to go.
