Recommended Kayak Carrier Options for 2010 Ram 2500 4 Door With 5th Wheel Trailer

Question:

What is your best suggestion for carrying three kayaks on a 2010 Dodge 2500 four door. Its not a mega cab. Were also hauling a fifth wheel so we cant use the bed of the truck. We need a complete system. The roof of the truck is naked. Suggestions on rack and kayak carriers appreciated. The kayaks weigh 49, 36 and 25 pounds each.

For your 2010 Ram 2500 4 door Crew Cab, I recommend starting with the Rhino-Rack Roof Rack consisting of the following:

Vortex Aero Crossbars- 59" Long - Qty 2 # RRVA150B-2
2500 Series Legs for Vortex Aero Crossbars # RRRLKVA
Custom DK Fit Kit # DK043

Then you can use the Rhino-Rack Nautic Stack Kayak Carrier w/ Tie-Downs - Post Style # RRS520 to secure the kayaks. This system is intended to have the kayaks centered between the crossbars, so if the kayak length isn't an issue with your 5th wheel, then you will be good to go.

If the length is an issue and you need the kayaks to be farther forward, then I recommend adding a front mounted hitch and support. For the hitch receiver, I recommend the Draw-Tite Front Mount Trailer Hitch Receiver # 65063 and then for the Erickson Big Bed Junior Load Extender # EM07605. This will put the kayaks over your hood but is another solution if needed.
