What is Weight Capacity of 5th Wheel Tailgate for 2007 Dodge Ram

Question:

I’m looking for a 5th wheel tailgate for my 2007 Ram 2500 Mega Cab. It seems that my options are somewhat limited. I came across this tailgate from Stromberg Carlson and I like the looks. I’m happy to see that it has so many positive reviews. But like some folks I’m concerned about the low weight rating of 100 lbs. How do folks get by without ever stepping on the tailgate? Is it advisable to just remove the gate if loading gear or stepping up into the bed?

All of the fifth wheel tailgates we offer for your truck have a 100 lb weight capacity like the Stromberg Carlson 4000 Series 5th Wheel Louvered Tailgate # VGD-02-4000. I wish we had a higher capacity but that's the capacity for all of them. You'd want to avoid stepping on it.
