Do Roof Rack Bars Have Individual Capacities?

Question:
In your comments you mention that the yakima load bars have a load capacity of 165lbs. Is that 165lbs per bar? So 330 for both bars with equal weight distribution?

No, definitely not; a bar like the Round 66" CrossBar for Yakima Roof-Rack System # Y8810025 does not have an individual 165 lb capacity, the maximum capacity is determined by the completely assembled roof rack on your vehicle and that would be 165 lbs COMBINED.
Additionally, the weight capacity of your vehicle's roof may be lower than the capacity of the assembled rack and that is the capacity you need to go by; you can look in your owner's manual to determine your roof's capacity.
