How to Take Apart Hopkins 4-Way Round Connector for Securing Wires
Updated 07/02/2018 | Published 06/30/2018 >
Question:
I am using the Hopkins connector set # 48285 to connect my utility trailer to my vehicle. I do not see how the connector comes apart to install the wires. Will you please help me with this? There is a small screw in it but even with the screw removed I can not pull it apart and I dont want to damage the part.

We do not have the particular Hopkins connector you referenced available (which looks to be similar to # PK11402), but I was able to find the installation instructions for opening the connector so you can connect your wires.
After removing the set screw, you should be able to simply remove the actual socket from the main housing. With the socket removed, you will then just need to route the wiring through the housing, and then secure them ot the socket terminals.
After securing the wires, you will align the socket keyway with the housing key and insert the socket back into the housing. Tighten the set screw and you will be good to go.
