I found a 2 1/4” hole saw, wound it be ok to use this size and file the hole bigger if needed? Thanks,

Yes, the 2-1/4" hole saw would be perfect for the Sealed 2" Round Trailer Clearance and Side Marker Light part # MC53RB with the 2" Round Grommet part # A54GB. This setup calls for a 2-5/16" hole but you are going to have more difficulty finding this size hole saw in comparison to a 2-1/4" hole saw. There will only be a 1/16" difference between the two so you might not even need to enlarge the hole but if you do then you can just use a file to make the assembly fit.
