Installation of the Brake Buddy Classic 3, How to Provide Power
Question:
Can the RM-155 light kit be used with Brake Buddy? I purchased and installed the RM-155 bulb and socket lighting kit and a Brake Buddy 3. I have a 4 wire plug on the RV which is used by the light kit. How do I get power for the Brake Buddy also?

Yes, the the Roadmaster Tail Light Wiring Kit with Bulbs, # RM-155 can be used with the Brake Buddy Classic 3, # HM39494.
We actually have an install video created for the Brake Buddy Classic 3, # HM39494, see link below. This is located on the product page as well along a few other install videos for different vehicles. The portion you are asking about specifically, begins about the 12 min mark. Even though this is an install on a Jeep Wrangler, it shows the needed connections and provides a great visual reference for following along with in your product supplied installation instructions. You first have the wiring harness that is installed inside the vehicle, frequently near the drivers left foot/lower leg. The Brake Buddy Classic 3, # HM39494 will plug in to this. The wiring harness will run to the engine compartment and connect to the positive side of the battery, vehicle ground and the remaining two wires connect to the breakaway switch. Your kit comes with a 15-Amp charger that charges your towed car's battery. The Brake Buddy is powered from the vehicles battery. It is not necessary to install this battery charger for the Brake Buddy Classic 3, # HM39494 to function. However, it is suggested that you do install this so as to keep your towed vehicles battery charged by way of the RV. Otherwise you will need to stop every few hundred miles and run the engine on your towed vehicle to recharge the battery.
If you have only the flat four on your RV then you do not have a charge line installed on your motorhome. If you have a flat four plug plus a 6 or 7 pin round plug then you most likely already have the needed motorhome side of the charge line (occasionally some will have both but usually it one or the other.) You will need to then install the 15-Amp charger that charges your towed car's battery per the provided instructions and cut off the four way plug and install the wires to a 6-pole, round plug, such as the Roadmaster 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Kit, # RM-146-7. If you do need the charge line kit for the motorhome side, it is the Roadmaster Battery Charge Line Kit for Motorhomes, # RM-156-75.
