Height Increase of Malone Dual Hitch Adapter # MPG544

Question:
I am towing a 13 foot 2012 EZ Sportsman Classic with a 2014 4runner. I want to carry 2 bikes on my existing Nashbar Shadow Hitch rack using a hitch similar to the Malone MPG544. I would order but do not like to send things back. The bikes and rack probably weight in at less than 100#. however, I do not want to add that weight to the rear bumper of the trailer. The hitch I use to pull the trailer is a 2 1/4inch standard hitch. I borrowed a friends hitch similar to the Malone MPG544 but the top receiver was not high enough for the bike rack to clear the trailer jack. I have looked at the Malone MPG544 and the top receiver seems to be higher. I have looked at different options and would like any advice on this hitch or any other. I have also looked at the Ultimate Trailer Jack #322-RDJ-2K but I am trying not to spend a lot of money at this time. Thanks for your advice and time

You didn't say how much more height you need or the height of your friend's dual adapter but you should compare it to the Malone # MPG544 which is 7-1/2 inches from the center of the top pin hole to the center of the bottom pin hole. This is the most height from any of our dual hitch adapters and likely more than your friend's.
Since your bike rack and bikes are less than 100 pounds you probably won't have an issue but I recommend verifing the total weight on the adapter because it's going to reduce the tongue weight capacity of your hitch by 50 percent.
