How to Carry 3 Kayaks on 2013 Chevy Equinox

Updated 06/25/2018 | Published 06/21/2018

Question:

I find myself in need of a system for carrying 3 Pelican 10 foot sit-on-top recreational kayaks. Each kayak weighs between 40-45 lbs and is approximately 14 inches wide when on its side. How do I carry them on a 2013 Equinox? My thoughts have been to buy a Rola 59786 cross bar kit and a stacker system possibly the Thule th830. Do you have any advice for me concerning this issue? Any help is appreciated....

You're right that a roof rack and kayak stacker are the best way for you to carry three 10' Pelican kayaks on your 2013 Chevy Equinox and I can get you all the parts you need.

Since you mentioned the Rola 59786, your '13 Equinox must have raised side rails, and while the Rola fits, I recommend going with the Thule WingBar roof rack and 53" crossbars which is something you'll want in order to ensure the three kayaks fit. This rack is made up of Crossbars # TH711420 (Black) or # TH711400 (Silver) and Evo Raised Rail Feet # TH710401.

This rack will allow you to use the Thule The Stacker # TH830 to carry your three kayaks. You will need two extra ropes # 853-5466 and tie-downs # 753-2030-02. Also, be sure to check your owner's manual for your roof's weight capacity to ensure it can handle the weight of your kayaks.

I have added links to some video reviews for you to check out as well.
