Choosing a Ball Mount to Tow Multiple Trailers with a 2018 Volkswagen Atlas

In order to find the correct ball mount you need to know the size of the trailer hitch receiver on your 2018 Volkswagen Atlas and the correct rise or drop you need for each trailer. From my research the Atlas's factory hitch is a 2 inch Class III receiver.

To find the rise or drop you need with each trailer park the Atlas on level ground and measure from the ground to the top of inside the receiver's opening. Then park each trailer on level ground and measure from the ground to the bottom of the trailer's coupler. Find the difference between the vehicle's and each trailer's measurement for the rise or drop. If the trailer is higehr than you need a ball mount with that amount of rise; if it's lower then you need a drop. I've linked a help article that explains the process in more detail for you.

Once you know the rise or drop you can look through ball mounts to find what you need. I've linked our complete selection that fits a 2 inch receiver. I've also linked all of our 1-7/8 inch and 2 inch hitch balls for you to match up to the ball mount. The ball hole diameter needs to match the hitch ball's shank diameter.

One solution to consider is an adjustable 2-ball mount. The B&W Tow & Stow, part # BWTS10038B, includes both a 1-7/8 inch and 2 inch hitch ball and provides up to either 5-1/2 inches of rise or 5 inches of drop. If this is enough rise or drop for you it's a great option because you don't have to worry about having a bunch of pieces to worry about for each trailer. The Tow & Stow flips under itself so it's tucked out of the way when you're not towing and you can just set it for whichever trailer you're going to be towing at the time.
