Question:

I have a 2010 Ford Expedition w/ tow package and a 2018 Coachmen Clipper 17bhs which has a tongue weight of 410. If I add 100lb to back of my suv and another 100lb to the pass through storage, plus another 100lb in the form of a Stromberg Carlson bike bunk w/ bikes, Im at 710 tongue weight right? Plus if I filled my freshwater tank up 33 gal = 265lb I figure half of that is going to the rear TT axle and half to the tongue. The center of the fw tank is 8 foot from the toung and 6 foot from the rear axle. So lets call that 125lb. Thats up to 835lb tongue weight? Am I doing that right?

You are on the right track of trying to calculate the tongue weight of your loaded trailer before purchasing a weight distribution (WD) system, but the best way to do this is to either use a vehicle scale to get the tongue weight (TW) of your fully loaded trailer use a TW scale like part # e99044 to do the same thing.

Once you know the TW of your fully loaded trailer (which when properly loaded should be 10%-15% of the weight of the loaded trailer) you also need to include the weight of any cargo behind the rear axle of your 2010 Ford Expedition. This is known as Total Tongue Weight (TTW).

If your TTW falls in about the middle of the 550 lbs - 750 lbs TW range of the Blue Ox SwayPro # BXW0750 that you referenced, then this is the WD system for you. Please note that you also need a hitch ball like the 2" # A-90 or 2-5/16" # 19286.

One of the great things about the Blue Ox SwayPro systems is that they all use the same WD head. This means that if your TTW changes you can purchase different bars and install them to accommodate your various tongue weights.
