Trailer Brakes Keep Dragging on One Side

Question:
I have adjusted the brakes and in 40 miles the wheel is dragging on the brakes again. Do i need to replace the backing plate? only the driver side

There are a few things that could cause one side of your brakes to drag after adjusting. This could be either a broken spring, faulty adjuster screw, or possibly a pinched wire on that side but you would hear the magnets buzzing if this was the case. I would first pull off the drum and inspect the springs. If all looks well then you will want to take a look at the adjuster screw and make sure it is in working order and installed correctly. You can use the side that is working as a reference.
If any of the above parts are broken and need replaced then we may have replacements available for you but it would be better to just replace the whole assemblies entirely. In order to make sure you get the correct replacements I would need to know your axle capacity, brake mounting flange bolt pattern, and the overall dimensions of your brakes.
