Question:
I have a 2006 dodge 2500 quad cab 4x4 truck with a short bed 6ft also a bandw turnover ball hitch, I also purchased an aux. fuel tank/toolbox that is mounted in the bed. I have a 2008 chapperal fifth wheel. I have had problems 3 times bumping the cab corners so I purchased the bandw setback which gave me 4 inches more room. Still bumped cab corner. my question is I now bought the convert-a-ball-adapter which gives me 8 inches. my question is which ball would be best the original straight or the offset which gave me 4 inches. Can these two be used together or will it push the center to far back

I spoke with my contact at Convert-A-Ball regarding the 5th-Wheel-to-Gooseneck Adapter w/ Offset # CAB-C5GX1216 that you referenced. He did state that there is no issue with using this model with an offset ball like the B&W # BWGNXA4685 as far as the two components working together. The offset that the ball provides in addition to the offset on the Convert-A-Ball adapter will not affect the adapter's performance.
The only issue you may have has more to do with the trailer's pin weight being pushed back further from the truck's rear axle. Depending on how heavy the trailer is, this weight has the potential to cause an uneven ride in the truck as the front may be lifted just a bit since the physics have changed.
I have attached a short video demonstration on this product that you can also take a look at.
