Question:
I am replacing a 7 way and 4 way plug on my 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD and someone cut the factory plug off the wire harness under the rear of the truck. Will this item replace the factory wire harness plug so I can use a trailer plug like 30955

Yes, you are exactly right. The Curt Universal Wiring Harness part # C56229 has the same US car connector that would have came on your 2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD from the factory. The female end of this connector will plug right into the male end on the Replacement Custom Multi-Tow 7-Way and 4-Way Trailer Connectors part # 30955.
In order to join the blunt cut wires on your truck to this harness I recommend using part # DW05744-10. These connectors are made of heat shrink which will help keep out water and dirt once sealed with heat (lighter).
