Necessity To Replace Spring on Reese 15K 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch
Published 08/25/2011 >
Question:
I have owned my Reese 5th Wheel Hitch, 15K since 2000. I am thinking about replacing the two springs. The springs appear to be working okay, but are almost 12yrs old. What do you think?

You should not have to replace the springs on your Reese 15K 5th Wheel Hitch, unless they are damaged. But, it would not hurt to replace the springs and also look over and grease the hitch as indicated in the instructions.
You should check over your 5th wheel hitch periodically to make sure everything is functioning and working properly, as you probably already do.
You will want to replace both springs at the same time. I have attached a diagram that shows how the springs attach in the head of the fifth-wheel hitch.
