What Does The Reese Replacement Spring 30776 Do?

Updated 04/02/2021 | Published 03/31/2021

Question:

16K hitch From your comments on attaching the two springs. The other spring has one end attached to the handle from the back of the hitch to the front of the hitch away from the jaws. Does this spring do anything safety wise once the jaws are locked into place? Im having trouble getting an exact replacement for the particular spring. Thank you

The Replacement Spring for Reese and Draw-Tite Fifth Wheel Trailer Hitches # 30776 you were looking at connects from the actuating rod to the hitch head, and a second spring goes from the hitch head to the jaws. These springs hold the actuating rod closed and make sure help to make sure the actuating rod returns to the closed position once opened.

You will want to keep these springs as they are a safety feature of the hitch.

The # 30776 fits the Reese or Draw-Tite 14K, 15K, 16K, 20K, 22K, and 30K 5th wheel hitches and measures 7-1/2" overall as you can see in the included diagram. If you can tell me exactly what hitch you have, or the dimensions of your current spring I would be happy to help you find the correct spring.

I included a video of the # 30776 for you to take a look at.
