Question:

The mounting arms of this are 16 inches apart. The cross members on my trailer are 24 inches apart. Do you think the following idea would be a good way to mount it? Attach (2) 24 inch 2x4s to the cross members through the plywood wall. Horizontal parallel to the floor. Then, mount the four buttons into the 2 x 4s at the appropriate distances. Then, attach the table to the buttons. Any better ideas?

You have an excellent idea on how to mount the Tow-Rax Wall Mounted Folding Table # TWSP45HFTA especially if you can't tie into your cross members. The mounting locations on the table are 32 inches apart, not just 16 inches. I confirmed this with the manufacturer, so there're actually further apart than the studs in your walls. So you can use one of the wall studs to connect one of the struts and then place the other 32 inches away using the 2 x4's you're going to add.

Use Mounting Buttons for Tow-Rax Wall Mounted Folding Table # TWSP30BK to mount into the 2x4s.

Please keep in mind that how/where you mount the table will affect capacity.
