Question:

Hi, Im close to being sold on the Thule OutWay bike rack for my 2015 Nissan Murano, but concerned about some of the comments that its somewhat heavy. I would be doing the installation and removal on my own, and Im a female with admittedly not much upper body strength. I dont suppose you can answer my question of being able to handle the carrier on my own, so in the alternative, do you have other non-hitch bike mounts to recommend? I only need it for one bike, and like a carrier that comes with its own locking mechanisms. Thank you!

I believe the review that you were reading were about the older version of this rack, the Thule Raceway PRO 2-Bike Rack # TH9001PRO. The current version, the Thule OutWay # TH45JV only weighs 13 pounds and is super easy to install and remove. The OutWay is a great option that will fit on your 2015 Nissan Murano. One advantage that you have is the Thule trunk mount bike racks come fully assembled, it doesn't get any easier than that to assembly.

The Thule OutWay # TH45JV is very simple to install and remove. The other options of bike racks attach to the vehicle using 6 straps and adjustment buckles. This arrangement is pretty clumsy and isn't very easy to use. However, the OutWay uses only 2 retracting cables that tighten with the twist of a knob or release with the flip of a lever. This allows the rack to be installed or removed in seconds. The retractable cables are lockable, and the rack includes an integrated cable lock to deter theft. And again, the weight is only 13 lbs compared to the 21 pounds of prior models.

Overall the # TH45JV is a better value and the easiest installable bike rack we have to fit your Murano. Take a look at the video to see if the installation is doable for you.

Some women's or alternative framed bikes without horizontal top tubes may require a Swagman Easy-Out Women's and Alternative Frame Bike Adapter # 64005 to provide a horizontal top tube on your bikes to provide an attachment point. I attached a review video for this product also. This will allow the bikes to be carried more level and will provide more ground clearance.
