Transmission Cooler Installation Recommendations and Parts for a 2011 Toyota Highlander SE 4 cyl

Updated 08/15/2011 | Published 08/14/2011

Question:

I saw that the Derale Transmission Cooler D13502 is listed for 2010 Highlanders, will this work on my 2011 Highlander SE 4 cyl.? If so, do I need any additional parts to install it? Thanks.

Yes, the Derale Series 8000 Plate-Fin Transmission Cooler Kit, # D13502, will work great on your 2011 Toyota Highlander SE with 4 cyl. engine. You should measure to make sure there is space to mount the cooler, dimensions are on the product page. You may need some additional tools to install the kit on your vehicle. Depending on the type and attachment style of the transmission lines on your Highlander, but you will not need any additional parts.

I have linked a video installation of a transmission cooler on a 2007 Dodge Caravan, that should be helpful. This installation required the use of a tubing cutter and a large screw driver to make the inline connection on the transmission oil return line. Your vehicle may require the same type of installation. You may also be able to use the included Insta-Dapt Radiator Adapter, # D13004 to install directly to the radiator or inline with an existing OEM transmission oil return line hose.

I have also added a drawing that I put together showing the best location for mounting the cooler and where the adapter fitting might install.
