Question:
I am getting ready to buy a fifth wheel trailer and need the air helper spring #F2299. I also need the fifth wheel hitch. Are there any restrictions regarding what hitch I will need after I install my air helper springs? I own a 2005, 2500, quad cab, 4X4, long bed Dodge Diesel pickup.

The rear Firestone Ride-Rite Air Helper Springs, # F2299, are the kit for your 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 Pickup with 4x4, long bed and diesel engine. The brackets for the air springs in this kit will bolt directly over the axle and inside of the truck frame, see photo link, so they will not interfere with 5th wheel installation.
You can use the Reese Quick-Install Custom Base Rails and Installation Kit, # RP5140-58, for your truck. This kit will install with the brackets forward and rearward of the rear axle and on the outside of the truck frame, so there will be no interference with the Ride-Rite kit, see photo link.
Finally you will need a fifth-wheel hitch. The Reese 20k Fifth Wheel Hitch, # RP30928, would make a great choice for your 3/4 ton long bed pickup. It has a one piece locking jaw for absolute security, a extra wide funnel area for easier hookup and the 4 way pivoting design will help with hookups on uneven ground.
