Question:
I need to prepare my 2018 F150 Platinum to flat tow, I have not purchased the RV , It will be a minimum of 42 ft tag axle with air brakes. I am interested in the air force one braking system, I have heard that using the engine brake activates the dingy brakes is this a problem? And is there a way around it? I am also going to have a Harley on a lift in the bed of the truck so I think I want the tow bar rated for 10k.can you let me know what I need to accomplish this? Thank you very much

For your 2018 Ford F-150 Platinum, I recommend the Roadmaster EZ4 Base Plate Kit - Removable Arms # RM-524431-4 along with the Roadmaster BlackHawk 2 All Terrain, Non-Binding Tow Bar - 10K # RM-422 and safety cables # RM-653.
For your braking system the SMI Air Force One Supplemental Braking System for Motor Homes with Air Brakes - Proportional # SM99243 is an excellent option. The engine brake will create deceleration which when used with the brake pedal will cause trailer braking that is stronger based on the more quickly forced deceleration, but it won't be a problem for the truck. The truck will apply the brakes in the same manner as it normally would in proportion to the deceleration of the towing vehicle when the brake lights are applied. This will be an excellent system for you. You will want the Roadmaster Brake-Lite Relay Kit for Towed Vehicles # RM-88400 to prevent the towed vehicle's brake signal from overriding the turn signal from the RV when applying the brakes during a turn.
For your truck wiring, I recommend the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267. This will give you a clean connection at the front of your truck and will allow you to utilize your vehicle wiring while protecting it for a clean look.
Finally, I recommend using a high-low adapter that is suitable for your combination. I have attached an article to help you with the measurements and have also linked the page to your options to assist.
