For a vehicle roof tent made for a US spec vehicle you will want to choose one that is primarily supported by uprights that make contact with the ground. The reason is that in the US the vehicle roofs and roof racks do not have high enough weight capacity ratings to support the whole weight of the tent and occupants. But we do have some options that fit this description.

First, you will need crossbars. For your 2016 Subaru Crosstrek you can use Malone roof rack # MPG201. This is a basic square bar system that clamps to the factory side rails on the vehicle. For more aerodynamic bars use # MPG215.

For your 2012 Toyota Highlander you can use Malone rack # MPG202 (this rack could also be used on the Crosstrek if you wanted to get just one roof rack to use for both vehicles).

For a tent we have some 3-person options; the Yakima SkyRise HD # Y07436 or # Y07437. The majority of the weight will be supported by the included ladder.
