Question:

I own a 2 door hardtop 2016 Mini Cooper with factory installed flush mount rails front to back. I would like fork down roof bike carrier and then I will also need roof rack cross bars to attach to the flush mount rails already on the car. What would you recommend ?

For your two door 2016 Mini Cooper with flush mounted factory side rails, I recommend using the Yakima CoreBar Crossbar System which is composed of part # Y00421 for the bars, part # Y00145 for the feet, and part # Y06009 for the fit kit. This system features aero shaped crossbars which reduce wind drag and noise. The mounting feet and crossbars can be be secured to the roof using locks like part # Y07204.

In order to carry your bike with the forks down, I recommend the Yakima ForkLift Roof Mounted Bike Carrier part # Y02098. This is an excellent fork mount carrier that will work well with the above CoreBars. It features a simple no-tool installation and has a very lightweight design weighing in at only 8 lbs. If you wanted to match the locks on this rack to the above feet/bars then you would want to use the six pack of locks like part # Y07206.
