Question:
I have a Carver 26foot fly bridge cruiser that Ive kept at a marina even though we have a slip in our community. The marina will haul the boat when a hurricane comes along with their travel lift. We cant keep the boat here when we leave home for any length of time because there was no way to pull it. I bought a three axle used boat trailer and have been rebuilding it with many of your parts, to be able to haul it out on the boat ramp in our community and store it at home. Ive been beefing up the trailer and replacing rusted u-bolts, new wheels, tires fenders, tongue jack and hydraulic brakes. Im getting ready to replace the ancient, rusted hydraulic actuator and put in a winch capable of handling the 9500 lb. load. The ramp has about a 15-20 degree incline. So, recommendations for a winch and an actuator would be appreciated to begin winding down the project. Thanks so much!

When it comes to choosing a winch for a boat trailer, there are a few general rules we can use. The boat-size-to-winch capacity is generally 2 to 1. With good rollers and short winching distances, the ratio can increase to 3 to 1 and with wooden bunks and long winching distances, you will want to reduce the capacity to 1 to 1.
For an electric winch that would work well for you the ComeUp winch part # CU644501 would work well. This has a 4,500 lb capacity and a 50 foot long synthetic rope.
For an actuator we have the part # T4750620 for disc brakes or part # T2478100 for drum. Both of these have more capacity than you'd need.
