Compatibility of Dexter Suspension Kit K71-359-00 Where the Equalizer Has a 2 Inch Height Difference

Question:
After reading the QAs, I ordered K71-359-00 for my 2007 Jayco Eagle Fifthwheel Trailer with 2 Dexter axles. My axle spacing is 34inch on center, 1 3/4inch springs and equalizer spacing of 6inch on center. After ping the axles and removing the suspension parts, I noticed that the equalizer on the trailer was 4inch tall and the boxed equalizer was 2inch tall. Will the height difference matter during operation and did I order the correct kit?

The Dexter Axle Heavy-Duty Suspension Kit for Tandem Axle Trailers - 1-3/4" Double Eye Springs # K71-359-00 will work for your application. The 2 inch height difference in the equalizer will obviously lower that location slightly which will bring the axles slightly closer together but won't make enough of a difference to cause issues. I don't recommend welding on a new hanger to give you that additional height.
If you don't wish to have that issue, you can use your old equalizers and just miss the grease zerk from the newer one.
