Length of Rubber Pad that Rests on Trailer for Loading Ramp Set # 288-07489

Question:
Regarding the ramps, I have a track trencher and Im trying to look for something like this that I can load my trencher into the trailer with. My trailer has a dovetail end and it tilts, but because the track trencher isnt on wheels but rubber tracks, everything goes uphill until a couple of things happen. 1 The trencher has gone past center and the trailer deck goes back to the level position which is very scary because Im driving the trencher up the trailer. Backing it up is worse. 2 Your lowering the boom on the trencher at the same time to shift the weight. My real question, how long are the ears on the very top of the ramps where they sit on to the trailer? And, is it possible to cut and taper the angle at the front a little to accommodate the ramps a little better. The dovetail is 24 inches and it s down 4 1/2 inches in that 24 inch span. What would you guys suggest. Thank you.

The length of the rubber section on the ramps part # 288-07489 is 3-1/2 inches. I can't recommend a way to cut and reinstall these without voiding the warranty.
