Solution for Kuat Pivot that Lines up with Rear Exhaust on 2015 Lexus GX 460

Question:

Have you heard anyone have issues using the Kuat Pivot with a GX 460? The Pivot sits directly in front of the exhaust pipe? I would think this would heat up the Pivot, possibly affecting the finish on the Pivot. Any other concerns or suggestions for solution if this is an issue?

It is definitely possible that the Yakima BackSwing Swing Away Hitch Extender # Y02483 referenced in your question will line up with the rear exhaust on your 2015 Lexus GX 460 when in its folded position. Based on the trailer hitches we have installed on the vehicle, at least a portion of the extender will be exposed to its heat. Over time, the heat from the exhaust may cause some paint or finish issues on the extender.

The best solution for this would be to simply add some exhaust tips to the vehicle to redirect the heat away from the accessory. You will just want to locate tips that match the diameter of the exhaust pipes on your Lexus. I have attached a link that will take you to our available selection that you can look through.
