If you didn't have anything on your 2018 Toyota Highlander you would first need to start off by installing a 4-Way like the Hopkins # HM11141825 if you have the factory tow package or the Tekonsha T-One # 118449 if you don't have the factory tow package.
The next step is installing the Universal Wiring Kit # ETBC7 which will give you a fully functional 7-Way and the appropriate wiring for your Tekonsha Prodigy P2 # 90885.
Once the wiring from the ETBC7 is run to your cab and the battery you then need to connect the following wires to the following functions:
Black - 12V Battery (with 20A breaker 6" from battery)
Blue - Brake Controller Pin on 7-Way
White - Ground
Red - COLD Side of Stop Light Switch (only gets hot when brake pedal is pressed)
You can use a circuit tester like part # PTW2993 to find the correct wire for your stop light switch. Please note: Do not disconnect the brake light switch on Hybrids unless battery is disconnected, or ignition is in the off position or else you may set off a code in the computer system that limits the vehicle's motion.
If you get some weird codes after installing the P2 then you may need to have your Highlander flashed.
I attached an installation video of the ETBC7 Kit and the Tekonsha Primus IQ # TK90160 on a 2017 Toyota Highlander that you can follow for the installation of your P2. If you already have the wiring kit ETBC7 installed just jump to the 19:10 mark in the video.
