Once installation is complete, the 4-way connector will be stowed beneath your vehicle, near the trailer hitch. A mounting bracket (sold separately) is recommended to keep the connector secure.

It is recommended that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all electrical connections - the plugs on your automobile and the 4-pole connector itself - to help prevent corrosion.

harness was plug and play and install was easy. One trick I would says is just remove the plastic base trim at the door latch and then lift up the storage tray to get the plug. No need to remove the whole tray and such.

Toyota Highlander

I installed this product on the Toyota Highlander I inherited from my sisters estate. I purchased a 5' x 8' trailer to pull behind it. I discovered the wiring harness was too corroded to work. Found Hopkins Custom Fit wiring harness on-line, it installed easily and works well. I just keep the harness in the back of the car and feed it out the back hatch to connect to the trailer. Works good!

2015 Toyota Highlander

Connectors match factory harness on my 2015 Highlander, but, of course, it is missing the strain relief, protection and gromet. External flat plug is an exact match so it will fit the factory bracket, but the plastic mount (HM48595) they make for this is better, just get a couple of stainless steel screws and nuts to attach it and you won't have a rusted mess like the factory bracket. I ended up splicing the external plug onto my factory harness to replace the factory plug with a broken off ground pin. This seemed the simplest way to keep all the factory strain relief, etc. Would have preferred the splice not be under the car, but I'm hoping adhesive lined heat shrink will protect the solder joints adequately.

  • How to Determine if 2008 Toyota Highlander is Equipped with Factory Taillight Converter
Luckily, rather than trying to understand the VIN check, the easiest way to determine if your Highlander is equipped with the taillight converter is to get a quick peek at the 10-pin connector it would plug into. The connector is located under the dash, between the emergency brake pedal and the brake pedal, as shown in the provided photo. If there's nothing plugged into the connector, you'd want to use the # HM11141845, as the trailer wiring won't work correctly without a taillight...

  • 7-Way Trailer Wiring Harness for a 2018 Toyota Highlander with Factory Installed Tow Package
The custom trailer wiring harness for your 2018 Toyota Highlander with the tow package is part # HM11141825; however, it's only a 4-way connector. To get a 7-way on your Highlander start with the # HM11141825 4-way and then use our # ETBC7 kit to convert it to a 7-way. The kit plugs into the already installed 4-way for the lighting funtions and includes all of the wiring needed for the additional functions. I've linked a video from when we installed the # ETBC7 kit on a 2014 Highlander...

  • How to Determine 2015 Toyota Highlander Has Factory Taillight Converter for Trailer Wiring
Here's what you'll want to do to easily determine if your 2015 Toyota Highlander has the factory converter for trailer wiring. Check out the install video link I attached and fast forward to the 4:00 minute mark. This is the portion of the install video for the # C56217 that covers installing the needed fuse to activate the converter box of the kit. If your Highlander already has a fuse in the shows slot you have the converter already and all you'd need is the # 56042 for trailer wiring....

Yes, I would be happy to assist you in picking out wiring for your 2016 Toyota Highlander XLE. The trailer wiring harness is the same on a 2012 Toyota Highlander Hybrid as it will be a standard Hybrid. The difference in which harness to choose will be impacted by whether or not you have the tow package. While we do offer outstanding trailer hitches for your 2019 Toyota Highlander LE Plus, the etrailer.com Trailer Hitch # E98844 will not work because the width of the aluminum rim on your full-size spare is simply too wide to allow this hitch to fit. • How to Determine if a 2019 Toyota Highlander Has a Tow Package
Basically what it boils down to is that if you have the tow package you'll already have a 4-Way trailer wiring connector on your 2019 Toyota Highlander so if you don't already have one odds are you need a wiring kit with the converter like the Curt # C56217, Tekonsha # 118449, or Hopkins # HM11141845.
