Replacement 1,200 lb Dutton-Lainson Winch Needed for a Tent Trailer

Updated 03/20/2018 | Published 03/18/2018

Question:

I have a 1973 StarCraft Swinger 6 tent trailer that has a 1200 # DL winch with what looks like an extended bolt which the crank handle attaches too. It is stripped and worn. Crank handle appears to have been modified - extended with pipe and welded attachment ratchet? on the end. The winch sets in the middle of the frame and the handle goes through the outer A-frame part of the frame, probably about 4-5 inches. Any suggestions? Something affordable ,please, not looking for original equipment. Thank you

If you are looking for a Dutton-Lainson winch that is rated for 1,200 lbs then the part # DL14934 is an excellent option.

This winch has an automatic brake so that when you stop moving the crank handle the load sits where it is at. You can use the DLB Series Brake Winch Ratcheting Handle # DL70347 which allows you to operate your winch handle if you have limited space.

You can use a 2" wide strap, like the 15' part # DL6148 or the 25' part # DL24249, or a 7/32" cable like part # DL24045 to maneuver your loads.
