Troubleshooting Hitch Ball Mount When Nut is Welded to Ball Mount

Question:

When you use a ball mount on a plate that already has threaded nut welded on. Do you need to use a lock washer on the ball?

For the 2-5/16" Hitch Ball # 19286 you generally would want to use the lock washer on the underside. Due to the fact that you have a welded nut there, you cannot use the lockwasher and should not use it on the other side of the platform. I recommend checking your hitch ball for a proper fit before towing each time as that ball may work its way loose. Unfortunately we don't carry a threadlocker compatible with that size nut, but that may help as well.

You may want to simply change out your ball mount to be sure of function and compatibility.
