Question:
I need replacement tires for a pop up camper size 5.70 x 8. Trailer weight is only 1200lbs before our gear. What would you suggest and is there certain things I should avoid? Also is it better value to purchase remounted on a new 5 lug rim or use the existing? Thanks so much!

Expert Reply:
For your popup camper with 5.70-8 tires, I recommend choosing a bias ply tire with a load range of C or greater. A load range C rating will give you 1,820 lbs for two tires which will be plenty for your needs. For just the tire, I recommend using the Kenda K353 Bias Trailer Tire part # AM10012 which has a load range C ratings, 65 mph limit, and comes with a 2-year warranty. Some things you will want to avoid are overloading you trailer and exceeding the maximum mph rating as these will make a tire more prone to blowouts if not adhered to.
By the time you have the wheels and tires mounted/balanced it will end up being much more cost effective to purchase the wheel and tire already mounted/balanced. For the above tire with included 8" diameter wheel that has a 5 on 4-1/2" lug pattern, I recommend the Kenda 5.70-8 Bias Trailer Tire with 8" White Wheel part # AM30140.
I have attached a review video of the above wheel/tire combo for you as well.
