Best Electric Trailer Jack for Use with a 2017 Keystone Bullet 243BHS

Published 02/06/2018

Question:

I purchased a 2017 Keystone Bullet 243BHS and I am wanting to install an electric tounge jack. I know nothing about the weight requirements on the jacks. What products do you suggest for this travel trailer?

You will want to find a jack that can at least lift the weight of your fully loaded trailer. Since the Tongue Weight (TW) of a trailer should be between 10-15% of the weight of your trailer, we can do a little math to figure out what would be best.

I found that your 2017 Keystone Bullet 243BHS has a dry weight of 4,685 lbs and can carry up to 1,815 lbs meaning that the most your trailer will weigh is 6,500 lbs. This will put your TW at 650 lbs - 975 lbs.

I recommend going with a jack that is rated for quite a bit more weight so that it will last longer and if you ever need to use it to lift your truck for installing a Weight Distribution (WD) system you will not max out the jack.

For your application I recommend going with the Stromberg Carlson Electric Trailer Jack Item # JET-5000. This has a lift of 23" and is rated for 5,000 lbs. I like the idea of extra capacity. It has the jack work less which makes it faster and lasts longer.

You could also go with a top of the line with a jack like the Lippert Smart Jack # LC643589 which is rated for 3,500 lbs and has 22-1/2" of lift. The reason why this jack is a great option is because it automatically extends and retracts to the height that you set it to.

I have attached some reviews on the jacks for you to check out.
