Can the Control Knob of the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite # RED44FR Replace Cigarette Lighter
Published 01/10/2018 >
Question:
Can you replace the cigarette lighter with the control knob on a 2000 Jeep Cherokee. I think this would be the best spot and make for a very professional look. Thank you for your time.

One of the great features of the Redarc Tow-Pro Elite Trailer Brake Controller # RED44FR is the versatility when it comes to mounting the control knob. Most brake controllers need to be mounted a specific way with the controls on the face of it. Since the Tow-Pro Elite has a control knob that is seperate from the actual controller unit it allows you to mount the control knob pretty much anywhere you feel like.
Although we haven't had the opportunity yet to install the control knob in place of a cigarette lighter, there is no reason why you shouldn't be able to do that on your 2000 Jeep Cherokee.
I went out to our warehouse and took some measurements of the control knob itself that you can use to determine if it will fit properly in the location you wish to install it. The plate/washer part of the knob in the picture measures right at 3/4" and will be the piece that sits against your dash. The black part of the knob that sits behind the dash measured about 1-7/8" long so you will just need to make sure that you have enough room for it.
I have attached a review video as well as an installation video of this unit on a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee that you can reference.
