Question:

I have a 2013 Tiffin 40foot Phaeton and I want to tow a 2017 Lincoln MKX with eco-boost and adaptive cruise control. I want to use a Blue-ox system with an appropriate SMI braking system. Would you please send me a list of all components I need to purchase for this installation? Do you sell the bx88255 KarGardII ? Is so, will this work with the previous parts request for my Lincoln MKX installation on a 2013 Tiffin Phaeton? My motorhome setup includes a Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter for Tow Bars - 2 inch Hitches - 2-1/4 inch Rise/ Item # RM-077-2 I attach a Yakami bike rack to the top part of the dual hitch and the car tow bar to the lower hitch part.

The Blue Ox base plate kit that you will need to use is part # BX2673 for your 2017 Lincoln MKX EcoBoost with Adaptive Cruise Control. If you don't already have a tow bar and safety cables then I highly recommend the Blue Ox Alpha Tow Bar # BX7380which comes with safety cables rated for 6,500 lbs.

For a supplemental braking system the Air Force One # SM99243 is the best for you since your 2013 Tiffin Phaeton has air brakes. You will also need to use the Relay # RM-88400 unless you plan on using magnetic towing lights.

Since it sounds like you will be flat towing frequently I recommend installing the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit # RM-15267 over a magnetic kit like part # RM-2120. It is really quick to setup once installed. You simply plug one end of the adapter into the connector on your MKX and the other end in the connector on your Tiffin.

Using the Roadmaster Dual Hitch Receiver Adapter # RM-077-2 that you referenced can be really useful but I do have a few words of caution. You will want to make sure that your tow bar is within the 3" safety zone that is outlined in the attached article, plus you will want to make sure that your Yakima bike rack has been rated for use on an RV. Since there is more motion at the back of an RV (due to the location of the axle to the hitch receiver) the bike rack will sway a lot more. Some bike racks cannot handle this extra motion. If you do not have an RV rated bike rack just let me know and I can make a recommendation.

You will also want to be sure to follow any specific instructions outlined in your owner's manual for flat towing your MKX.
