My generator is 11 wide 17.25 high and 20 inches long wil it into the top or are the hinge apparatus and the lock mechanism take up too much of the space.

The DeeZee A-Frame tool box you'd need is the part # DZ91717 instead due to the height of your generator and the box you mentioned being too short.
This box would easily fit your generators dimensions though.
Overall dimensions: 34" long (back) x 20-3/4" long (front) x 19" wide x 22-3/4" tall
