Backup Camera System Options for 2009 Chevy Express 2500 with Door-Mounted License Plate

Question:

Can I use the HM50002 on a Chevy Express van where the license plate is mounted in the back door? So, to fit in the recess of the center step portion of the rear bumper, I might have to trim the bottom of the Hopkins license plate mounting bracket. Any problems doing this?

The Hopkins Smart Hitch Backup Camera and Hitch Aligner System # HM50002 is intended to mount at a vehicle's usual bumper-area license plate mount since its mounting holes will match those of a standard plate. This placement provides the right height and angle for the unit to display the hitch-alignment function while you couple a trailer.

Since your 2009 Chevy Express van 2500 has a door-mounted plate you could modify the Hopkins system to install it at your bumper but you might instead prefer to use a different camera system since modifications to the camera unit will void its 1-year limited warranty.
