Buying 2018 Ram 2500 short bed crew cab not mega cab doesnt have fifth wheel prep. What would be best hitch to get to pull fifth wheel that is 13600 lbs and What would be best tonneau cover for 2018 Dodge Ram crew cab Short bed with fifth wheel hitch?

The hitch I recommend for a 2018 Ram 2500 short bed without the fifth wheel prep package is the Demco Hijacker Autoslide # DM8550034 because it utilizes an autoslide so you never have to get out of your Ram in order to slide the hitch like you do with other sliding fifth wheels.

The Hijacker has a head which rotates up to 90 degrees with your trailer, a single-piece jaw which gives you 360 degrees of contact with your king pin and is made in the United States of America. The base rails you would use to install it are the Demco Hijacker Premier Series Above-Bed Base Rails # DM8552025-71. I've added links to video reviews of both products for you to take a look at.

In terms of a tonneau cover, it would depend on the height of the fifth wheel and if the head went over the base rails. For this I recommend first getting a fifth wheel and measuring it at the lowest height setting and then measuring your truck's bed rails to see if there will be any overhang. From there, you would be able to choose the best tonneau cover for you.
